Assignment 8A – Solving The Problem

Opportunity

Dog owners do not have an upscale facility that they can drop their dogs off for the day while they are at work or for an overnight stay while they are out of town. In addition, owners do not have a facility that also allows their dog(s) to be out playing and socializing with their dog friends the entire stay.

Solution

I would like to provide dog owners with a pet resort that meets all the needs and expectations of the pet and owner. This facility will provide the dogs with a fun and safe atmosphere while their parents are away. The resort will be staffed 24/7 with staff to dog ratios at (1:10) - 1 staff member per 10 dogs. Dogs will spend a majority of the day outside (weather permitting) playing with each other in the large AstroTurfed play area, on the playground equipment, splash pad, or sand box. In the hotter part of the day, dogs will be inside in the air-conditioned facility where they can continue to play, nap on dog cots, get pet by the staff, or go to the in-house grooming salon. The dogs will be separated by size, small and large, for safety purposes. There will be isolated areas for the dogs to go when they get too excited with each other for a short break or if they prefer to be in their own space. Owners will be able to pick up their dogs at any time (unlike most pet resorts). In the evening, the dogs (owners) have a choice of going to bed in spacious private rooms or remain in the open area. This will be a high-end facility so pricing will be slightly higher than a typical pet resort. There will be day care rates and overnight rates with discounts for extended stays and families with more than one dog.

  1. Wow. I never knew these existed but it does make a lot of sense. I know many people who treat their dogs like if they were their own kids. I also know that having to find someone to feed the dog and take the dog out while on vacation can sometimes be difficult. I think this is a great idea. However I would like to know how dogs can be separated if they do not get along and fight with each other.
